SIGNED – The Soft Voice of the Serpent and Other Stories by Nadine Gordimer.  Simon and Schuster, New York, U.S.A. 1952.  Stated First Edition, First Printing.  244pp. 8.25×6.00×1.00.  SIGNED in blue fountain pen ink on title page “Nadine Gordimer”.  Hardcover is in VERY GOOD COLLECTIBLE condition.  Cream color dust wrapper with black lettering and illustration in Good+ condition with several chips to top front cover, head/foot of spine and top rear cover, plus rubbing and mild darkening to rear cover, moderate shelf wear.  $3.50 price intact.  Also, center split to spine on dustwrapper with two-inch tape repair (see photos).

Publisher’s grey-brown finely woven cloth, upper cover stamped – Nadine Gordimer – in gold, spine lettered in gold within dark pink title block with gold serpent device; top edge stained pink, fore-edge uncut, top front/rear cover edges lightly sunned. All interior pages clean and unmarked, signatures and binding tight.
